Crown hockey sticks are quite literally manufactured by F1 composite engineers, using materials that are taken from F1, automotive and aerospace suppliers, Crown has made a monumental step up in the engineering quality of field hockey sticks. If you open up a traditionally made composite field hockey stick you will find that the insides look like marble, with plenty of layers twisting and vary in thickness, folds, kinks, air bubbles and other oddities that all make for very inaccurate sticks. If you open up a Crown stick you will see our aerospace grade foam and precision wall thicknesses, with none of the previously mentioned defects. We have the best people working to make the best.

It's not about how much carbon fibre you use it's about how you use it. In a way saying a stick is made out of carbon is the same as saying that stick is made from metal, when a steel stick would differ massively to a aluminium stick, and there are many different grades of aluminium and steel. Carbon fibre is exactly the same if not more varied. There is an infinite amount of combinations of carbon fibre filament and resin systems that would make for drastically different feeling hockey sticks, not to mention the fact that fibre directions can be orientated in many different directions to make for different performance characteristics even using the same carbon fibre and resin. We have stuck with using only the best materials, all of Crown materials are fit for aerospace by passing all strict standards and regulations that are required. We are only interested in the best, regardless of the cost in time and effort.

The Crown stick is also the stiffest stick on the market (more stiffness = more power), so the lack of vibrations is particularly import for us.

Crown are trying to improve all areas of hockey, we are busy trying to develop new hockey accessories to improve players further. The Crown touchPad is a great starting point and an example of what we are trying to achieve at Crown. The Crown touch pad is developed in partnership with 3M, which is one of the world’s largest technology companies, originally developed as a protective product for military helicopters fighting in Afghanistan the touchPad has been re-designed for hockey by Crown. The touchPad is a clear durable plastic that is applied to the face of the Crown stick, it provides a slightly more tacky/sticky contact point with the ball to aid in player’s control. The Crown touch pad is also able to be replaced so that you can have a fresh feeling stick more regularly

The Crown stick has a softer feel to it, normally referred to as 'first touch control', due to an increase in woven fibre used. It is also stiffer overall, giving a higher power to the stick and the increase in woven fibre gives more resistance to torque meaning strikes should be more consistent.
